And so, it is only day 3 of our road trip and we are headed north to Mesquite, Nevada from the North Rim. We must have passed hundreds of motorcycle riders on this leg of the journey as they were headed south. You would have thought there was a Hell's Angel convention nearby! Just be aware that lodging and camping at the North Rim are very limited and they have signs posted of no overnight sleeping in vehicles (Kathy & I did this once when going to Rocky Point and not making the border before it closed...not very comfortable). Our advice is make your plans months in advance or spend a long day driving in and out of the North Rim.

We stopped for lunch in Hurricane, Utah. This is a junction for getting to Bryce or Zion National Parks from Arizona. Taking the Hop-On-Hop-Off in Zion is on our bucket list. We'll see how we can include these parks in a future road trip.

Casa Blanca Casino Resort is a very nice place in Mesquite, Nevada. This is the view out our room to the pool.

OMG! We had a delicious dinner at Katherine's consisting of Calamari Fritti, Lobster Bisque and we split a Filet & Shrimp Romano. Even if you don't golf or gamble, this place is worth the trip. Next time we will try the Hot Spinach Salad. (Many, many years ago when Alex was with AT&T he had a Cafe Diablo in Denver when taking a client out to dinner. Tableside presentations are really impressive!). Click on Katherine's for the menu.

But the real reason for stopping in Mesquite instead of driving a few miles farther and staying in Las Vegas was the golf! We've seen a few pictures from friends and they seemed happy. Air Force buddy Lynn Craig said I must play this course. Arizona Sunset Golf Association friend Jerry Catalano provided advice to stay in the fairway. Knowing how hard it is to get on this course and how the heat might come into play, Alex made reservations a month in advance at Wolf Creek. The earliest tee time he could get was 7:10 AM when 5:30 AM would have been preferable.

Kathy rode along to take in the sights, and they put a couple of guys from Florida with us. They were absolutely terrible golfers but very nice. They didn't even keep score and one of them only played 9 holes. They just wanted to say they had played Wolf Creek. They were the perfect candidates for U-Hack. Larry owned a construction company that did a lot work in Innisbrook. He bought his daughters a Mercedes and BMW for their 16th birthday. He placed a patent for a spinner to turn a motorcycle around in your garage. He also sells little vacuum cleaners for when you scratch off lottery scratchers. Who would have ever thought of such a things? My guess is he was in a different tax bracket than us, LOL.

Anyway here are some pictures. The first 2 are hole #1, a par 5.

This is the view from the tee box on #2. Whew! There was a lot of hiking up and down to the tee boxes and greens.

This is my favorite view of the course!

Here's one of the par 3's and hole #17, a par 5.

And here's my scorecard. Yes, an Eagle on #18 witnessed by the ranger and several maintenance crew members. They (and I) were pretty excited! 8 Iron from 131 yards.
